the camera made me do it

barngray.jpg

it was the camera that whispered "go take a look." as i drove past the old, abandonded farmhouse. before i knew it, i was inside creeping around, looking for stories and images to collect. the house still had a few details from its past.
red curtains, a blue cup, a rusty fan, a jump-rope.
i admit, it was a bit scary, but in a fun-scary way.
fun that is until my high-heeled boots caught a loose board and i fell and skinned my hands.
fun until i saw the dead animal a foot away from my face.
fun until i looked up to see the policeman standing in the doorway.
yes, i saw the no tresspassing sign.
yes, i know it is "unsafe for a young girl to be tromping around here all alone."
yes, i am wearing "inappropriate hiking boots." (can you believe this?)
yes, i promise you will never find me in here again.
its the camera that brings me to places i normally wouldnt pay attention to. and sitting here now with bloody hands and muddy boots, i am still smiling from the adventure.
